Share Block Scheme
Prospective Orania residents frequently have questions about the share block scheme through which land ownership in Orania's town area is managed. After considerable research and deliberation, the original founders of Orania decided that a share block would be the best way to facilitate the survival of a 'purpose-built town' like Orania.
Vluitjieskraal Share Block Ltd (VAB) was established after the purchase of the town to hold its single title deed. A person who gets residence rights in Orania can then buy a property in Orania and become a shareholder of the share block, which also means the buyer is a voter who helps elect the directors of VAB.

Political Development
As Orania develops, so do its structures. As the population and territory grow, the need for participation also grows and the system becomes more nuanced. Orania strives towards its own political dispensation and must therefore represent all levels of government.
The year 2000 was decisive for Orania's political development. Through a legal victory in the Kimberley High Court, Orania maintained its self-governance and continues to function as its own entity with a status to be determined through future negotiations.
